Oral Pathology

Oral Pathology

There is a large number of systemic conditions/diseases that manifest themselves in the oral cavity. Treatment for the majority of them is targeted to management of the underlying condition. However, some of these conditions present with significant symptomatology and/or are linked to other H&N pathology; they therefore require assessment by an OMFS surgeon.

The most common oral pathology conditions that are seen in daily OMFS practice are:

  1. Oral Lichen planus
  2. Mouth ulcers
  3. Geographic tongue
  4. Burning mouth syndrome
